Did you grow up hearing your teachers and parents encourage you to “think outside the box”? What did that mean? Did they promote originality for originality’s sake, or did it have a higher purpose?
Being stuck in a box is no good. However, it’s not particularly productive to break out of the box if there is no goal—no direction. At Redd Legend, we have focused on creating goal-oriented quality media that will last several years, rather than creating videos that may go viral but will quickly become irrelevant. Despite being a fairly young company, we have already seen the results of this kind of mentality: thinking in front of the box.
The first step to think in front of the box in regards to marketing is infusing a business’s purpose into their industry. We come up with creative strategies to showcase the business’s mission, vision, and core values, and how the business uses those to create excellent services and products that improve the world. This story captures people’s attention, and we input this story-driven media into different channels (social media, etc.). We collaborate to understand upcoming industry developments, and stay on top of what our society is attracted to—what captures their attention in advertising. While communication channels, such as social media, change over time, it is still possible to be ahead of the curve enough to create quality content that will last.
Once we’ve figured out which direction everything is leaning, we will start tracking the trends. There are a number of aspects we have to keep an eye on: the type of stories that are being told, the eye-catching visuals that “stick” with people, the most popular media styles, and the “flow” of ads etc.
Tracking the info leads us to create our carefully-crafted content that will stay out “in front of the box” for the longest possible time. Movies like The Matrix or Star Wars are excellent examples of video/media that have held up well over time because their creators thought not only outside the box, but also in front of the box when creating the story and film style.
Redd Legend is always thinking outside the box when we create ads and marketing strategies for ourselves and our clients. But we always keep our direction in mind: staying in front of the box. Time will move on and we will continue to improve at what we do, but in the meantime we will do our utmost to glorify God by creating stories that influence beliefs, emotions, and actions. Think. Feel. Do. If you’re interested in how to stay “in front of the box” for your company, schedule a discovery call with us today!
